Vanessa Hudgens is the Postpartum Role Model We All Need

Seriously. If you haven’t seen any pictures of Vanessa Hudgens postpartum, go take a look.

I saw a recently surfaced picture of her that showed her out on a walk with her mom and her baby and she looked absolutely fabulous in a completely realistic and attainable way. A pair of shorts with an oversized t-shirt and her hair pulled back, but looking absolutely glowing in her new motherhood. She was dressed exactly how I was dressed at two months post-partum. Okay, let’s face it — I wasn’t even putting on that many items of clothing when I was 2 months post-partum.

Also, can I take a moment to say how cute it was that she was out with her mom?

There is so much pressure for moms to just “snap back” into shape after childbirth. We have to worry that we aren’t gaining enough or that we are gaining too much for 9 months, only to now have to worry that we aren’t losing it quick enough (or losing it too quickly) immediately after we’ve pushed a crotch goblin out or had our FUPAs wolverined.

We all put pressure on ourselves to look amazing when we already do. We need to give ourselves more credit for all of the work we do and acknowledge that, although we might look different, we look amazing. We are keeping little ones alive, feeding them, changing them, soothing them to sleep.

During this postpartum time, our beauty shines both inside and outside. So what if we are dressed like we are on a season of survivor? We are survivors.

Let’s be proud of everything our postpartum bodies have done and let it shine through.

We are beautiful, awesome, super women. We are amazing. We are enough. And, most importantly, we are all in this together.

…sorry, I had to go there since we are talking about Vanessa Hudgens.

Please feel free to post a photo that makes you feel beautiful below. The photo below truly represents me in my mom era. It took effort to get up, get dressed, and get out of the house, but I did it. And that in and of itself is fabulous.
